For more than 30 years, Lung Foundation Australia (LFA) has walked alongside people living with lung disease and lung cancer, helping them navigate some of life’s hardest moments with care, knowledge and hope.
Gilimbaa was engaged by LFA to create a new motif artwork for its Lung Learning Hub, an online training tool to allow health professionals to easily find and complete training to support patient care with quality-assured, evidence-based respiratory health education and training from a range of providers in one central location.
The motif artwork ‘Pathways to Knowledge’ by Wiradjuri and Gomeroi artist Jade Holland was created for this purpose.
Artwork Story
This artwork is a story about the Lung Learning Hub. It’s about breath, life, the gathering of health professionals to meet and learn, cultural safety, respect, and the support structures and pathways that help guide us. The central piece is a play on the metaphor ‘Trees are the Lungs of the World’ with branches and root systems to reflect this. It’s about the air, breath, and life that moves around us and within us. It’s about people standing together to support lung health.
This artwork speaks of cultural safety and support for both health professionals and the community. It acknowledges the different pathways on which people
come together, walk together, learn together, and develop relationships and trust. It recognises that over time we develop better processes and systems to support our intentions and practice.
Together we create pathways to better lung health through culturally safe education and support.
