G20 - Brand Development

In 2014, Brisbane played host to the G20 Summit, seeing world leaders gather for the momentous event. Gilimbaa was approached to design a logo that captured the gravitas and cultural significance of this event. Our brand strategy was to lead the design and narrative with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and knowledge. The final design captured a message of strength through unity, drawing on inspiration from Torres Strait Islander weaving techniques. The rainbow serpent represented both the traditional and contemporary landscape, connecting people, and their journeys and knowledge from across the globe. This award-winning logo now proudly places Australia’s narrative beside others in this unique global collection of national identities.
