ORIGIN OF A NAME
Gilimbaa means 'today' in the language of the Wakka Wakka people of central Queensland.
For us it symbolises our individual journeys, skills, and history which have brought us together and which are shaping our future.

The John Newfong Media prize has been established to recognise the outstanding contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to journalism in Australia. Gilimbaa worked with CAIE to establish a brand and website for this significant event.
